OUR MISSION
Educating and empowering everyday people through simple, accessible and responsible security practices.
WHY?
2Blokes1Terminal exists to educate and empower people through simple, accessible and responsible security practices. 2B1T is the brainchild of a collective of Cyber and ICT professionals who have recognised a problem with the industry, a gap in knowledge and accessibility, whilst having a passion for making a difference at a community level within the space.
Cyber Security SHOULD be something that everyone cares about, because it affects us all. From the children that are growing up with an ipad in their hands, the office worker getting countless linkt, mygov and auspost sms phishing texts every day, the small business owner trying to navigate the ASD essential 8, and the grandparents who are asking their grandkids if an email (every email) is a scam.
2B1T aims to provide accessible and relevant news, guidance, research and resources to improve day to day security for everyone, from the average computer user to seasoned cyber professionals. The articles, research and guidance we provide will work to demonstrate why something is a risk, how and why it works, why you should care and guided actions to ensure you’re taking steps to make the world more secure.
WHO ARE WE?
The team come from varied walks of life, backgrounds and experience. Bringing together experience in Federal Government, mainstream ICT, community driven security research and community engagement. However, a common ethos unites the collective; a passion for making the world a safer place with the growing dependence we have on the internet and a desire to continuously learn, develop and affect change within the Cyber Security landscape.
The team wants to show everyday users and security researchers alike that there is no barrier to entry, contribution or development within the space, except those imposed by yourself.
What we are doing:
- Encouraging better day to day safety and awareness
- Promoting a culture of accessibility
- Educating and empowering the average person to understand, apply the principles of and show others the importance of Cyber Security
- Providing relevant, timely and accessible research into Cyber Security
- Promoting the ideology of “security starts with the average person”
What we aren't doing:
- Further fostering a culture of learned helplessness to the average person
(“this is too technical”, “i didn't grow up with a computer in my hands” etc) - Wearing blue suits, boat shoes and claiming cyber security is new or “emerging” for all the solid gold doubloons in the kingdom
- Promoting the necessitation of qualifications over experience, practical knowledge and the initiative to learn
- Claiming that we have the best solution, or selling you a product
